The Land animal enclosures: As said in the law tab the boundary wall must be at least 2 metres high to keep animals from escaping and getting hurt. Some land animal enclosures have a moat around the outside of the enclosure to make sure the animals stay in it. Enclosures are required to provide shelter from the weather. There are a few different types of public viewing places including the open edge and the public shelter viewing. The open edge has no vegetation in between the viewing public and the edge of the enclosure. The view into the enclosure is only blocked by the handrail. It can be used to allow the visitors to get closer to the animals and it has good viewing for people in wheelchairs and younger children. The public viewing shelter is used for more major exhibits were people viewing will spend more time at. If glass is used then reflections from the sun should be considered. The glass that is usually selected is glass that can withhold claws on one side and vandalism on the other.
